Democratic Action is a grassroots non-profit organization working since 1999 to improve the quality of life of marginalized tribal communities in Nabarangpur, Odisha. Beginning with supplementary nutrition support for tribal children in Ponduguda village, the organization has expanded to 200 villages across three blocks, focusing on sustainable livelihoods through millet cultivation, improved farming practices, and market linkages; environment and climate resilience through natural resource management; women’s empowerment via SHGs, leadership and financial literacy; better health and nutrition for mothers, children, and adolescent girls; quality education through early childhood learning and adult literacy; and youth employability through vocational and digital skills. Agriculture and Livelihood Promotion

Democratic Action promotes millet cultivation among small and marginal farmers to ensure food and nutrition security. The organization encourages organic farming, kitchen gardening, and sustainable crop planning. It provides training on advanced techniques for sunflower, maize, vegetables, and paddy cultivation. Support is also extended for quality seed production, preservation, and biotechnology to enhance productivity.
